As her freedom is threatened, Isio, a Nigerian migrant newly placed in a UK immigration removal centre, searches for the strength to resist the system. Within confinement, she finds connection with another woman, and together they begin to imagine a future beyond the fences.
Dreamers is a powerful story of resilience, solidarity, and love in the face of institutional control.

Alongside the film, we'll also be hosting a drop-in community banner workshop delivered by POMOC (Sunday 21 June, 10am–2pm). Through weaving, sewing, embroidery and making together, participants will explore themes of migration, displacement and LGBTQIA+ solidarity, finding common ground through craft and shared stories. The session will culminate in a shared artwork celebrating community, connection and belonging. More details here.
Both events sit beautifully alongside Queens Heath Pride, which is also taking place on Sunday, and •nook•'s 2nd birthday celebrations. It promises to be a wonderful weekend of creativity, community and conversation.

Our •cosy cinema• screenings are a little bit mysterious by design. Most of the time we can’t tell you exactly what film we’ll be showing due to licensing restrictions - but we can promise it’s always an interesting choice. If you don’t like not knowing, join our mailing list and we’ll keep you informed there - we can do that 🙂
Expect something somewhere in the world of arthouse, world cinema and documentaries, often with an Eastern European connection. These are always films we genuinely enjoy and want to share with you.
After the screening, we stay for a casual, friendly discussion - very relaxed, and open to everyone.
Screenings are free, but donations are warmly welcomed - they help us keep bringing events like this to the community. There’s always tea and coffee available, sometimes snacks too (and you’re very welcome to bring something to share).
Spaces are limited, so if you book but can no longer make it, please let us know as soon as possible - someone else may be waiting for a spot.
•COSY CINEMA• has a very DIY setup, so don’t expect luxuries - but we promise a warm and welcoming experience!
